Lemon Angel レモンエンジェル-実写版 (2006)
In 2006 the same year when Lemon Angel Project was released a Hinya Nishimura had an idea... which was "Oh, let's make a new Live Action Lemon Angel Feature" several years later featuring a whole new cast... as the original trio Tomo, Miki & Erika. Starring Haruka Ogura, Ryo Shihono & Saki Yoshida. Now i'm unsure if this is a tribute to the original trio, Tomo Sakurai, Emoto Miki & Shima Erika.
According to the information given on the official website, it states that this 2006 release was based on Lemon Angel Project, the Anime series. Which features 3 best friends Miki, Erika & Tomo... but in Lemon Angel Project, Saya was Tomo's 3rd best friend which means this live action film doesn't follow the Lemon Angel Project storyline but more or less follows the original trio from the 80's, which means this is really based on the "80's pop group Lemon Angel, as there were only 3 members of the group".

Three high school girls, Miki, Tomo and Erika belong to the school drama club and dream of finding cool boyfriends. They approach the club members, Toshiya and Yuya but romance is never without obstacles. The girls are involved in various troubles: people with “cosupure” (costume play) fetish chasing them or a sleazy production manager deceiving them and so on. Finally the biggest disaster awaits them at the drama training camp; who will win this romance game?
Now i was originally going to say, that maybe this live action film flopped because it didn't have an animated series but i'm actually wrong because apparently Lemon Angel Project is what this film is based on... and Lemon Angel Project is based on Midnight Lemon Angel.

Alight let's get down to business.... if you are curious as to why company's can rip off the original group Lemon Angel, Tomo Sakurai, Emoto Miki & Shima Erika, it all goes down to contracts... the original trio wanted to be known in Japan so they signed up with pop idol unit Lemon Angel a counter project of Cream Lemon by the same company that produced "KISS Fairlies", Meaning they don't own the rights to the characters even though they are based on themselves, not to mention as said before they signed contacts, so they will never be able to sue, if people use the personas they created.
Reasons for Flopping?
Let's just say one thing... they are "NOT" the originals, you can't just make something and expect us to be like "WOW" it's Lemon Angel, because they are not the original trio... so the wow factor will not work! Would love to see the original trio unite, imitators/younger models should move aside as they are not Tomo Sakurai, Erika Shima & Miki Emoto.
Now i know you would think to yourself "BUT THE ORINGAL TRIO ARE OLD BY NOW" (I Don't Think That Really Matters) or they could have at least let the original trio have a cameo in the film... now that would be something to laugh about... but no!
Dear Original Members of Lemon Angel... you really need to comeback and do a reunion... or something, as you are missed!
